Vishwakarma Jayanti is believed to be the day when Lord Viswakarma the divine architect of the universe appeared on earth. Vishwakarma Jayanti 2016 date is September 17.
Vishwakarma Puja on September 16, 2016 is mainly observed in eastern parts of India – West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa and Tripura. This is the most famous and most important Biswakarma Puja in a year.
Vishwakarma Puja is also held during the Diwali period in many parts of India.
In Hindu religion, God Vishwakarma is the divine architect of the universe and the divine carpenter. His name first appears in the Rigveda and is also credited with Sthapatya Veda, the science of mechanics and architecture.
Special pujas are performed on the day in temples and in workplaces by Laborers, artisans, carpenters, craftsmen, mechanics, smith and other workers.
